Early voting for the May 3 Bond Election will take place from April 22-26 and April 28-29. On Election Day, May 3, Wimberley residents can vote at:
Blanco Room at the Wimberley Community Center (14068 Ranch Road 12)
Texan Academy at the Scudder Campus (400 Green Acres Drive)
This is an important decision for our community, so plan to attend and learn more.
Blue Hole to Receive $3 Million for Nature Center

The Wimberley Parks and Recreation Department will receive $3 million in funding from Hays County from a diligence funding agreement to build a Blue Hole Nature Center.
The Center will focus on conservation, education, and community engagement and will feature interactive exhibits, educational programs, and sustainable design elements that highlight the biodiversity of the Texas Hill Country.
The investment aligns with the county’s commitment to preserving natural spaces while making them more accessible to the public. Planning and development for the Blue Hole Nature Center will begin in the coming months.
Great news to showcase one of our area's most special places!
Use Your Smartphone To Prepare for Any Emergency
Any time of the year can be fraught with natural disasters here in the Wimberley Valley, but it seems like spring has the widest variety of calamities. Whether it's fire, high winds, flooding, hail, or tornadoes - we've seen it all.
And while your smartphone can't prevent these natural disasters from happening, it can help you stay on top of things. Here are a few of our favorite smartphone apps for navigating our unpredictable climate.
KWVH app on the App Store and Google Play. Newly updated, the app allows you to listen anywhere. If bad weather breaks out, we break in to deliver you timely, hyper-local information.
KWVH Facebook and Instagram feeds. We can stream our broadcasts over our own social channels, and social media is many times the first place people go for information.
Facebook's Wimberley Community Forum. Sure, there are the ubiquitous posts about lost dogs and rants about lousy drivers, but the moderators do a remarkable job when things get serious --- like the weather.
Weather apps like MyRadar. It's a user-friendly interface with live animated radar, giving you real-time views of weather patterns at a glance. It also offers severe weather alerts, detailed forecasts, precipitation predictions, and hurricane tracking.
Wildfire apps like Watch Duty. This incredible app alerts you to nearby wildfires and firefighting efforts in real-time. As best we can tell, it's the most up-to-date publicly available fire resource of its kind.
Text alerts from the City of Wimberley and Hays Informed. You can choose to download an app or sign up for text alerts, and the alerts are customizable. It's a good way to get official information from government agencies.
Give them a try, and let us know what you think. Are there any other apps you turn to in times of crisis? Let us know about them!
And mark your calendars for the upcoming Emergency Preparedness Fair, held on March 29 at the VFW Fairgrounds. More about that great program in an upcoming issue.
