Texan Football Season Kicks Off FRIDAY!
Football Week One is upon us!
Friday night is the Texans' first game of the season, hosting rival Canyon Lake in the annual Battle of the Backbone. This season marks the 40th year of Wimberley Texan football.
Be sure to listen in tonight at 6:30pm for the Wes Lambert Coach's Show to get a preview of Friday's matchup and an overview of the season. And on Friday, tune in at 4pm for the Texan Tailgate show, followed by pregame at 7pm and kickoff at 7:30.

Honor the Legacy of Martha Knies
Wimberley is coming together to support a new and improved Martha Knies Community Playground, with a special fundraiser planned for September 22 from 5 to 7pm at Martha Knies Park, 109 Old Kyle Road. The evening will feature food, drinks, music, and activities for kids, giving families a chance to enjoy the park while supporting its future.
Wimberley Parks and Recreation is raising money to transform the park into a more welcoming and updated space where generations of local families can play, gather and make memories.
The fundraiser has taken on added significance following the recent passing of Martha Knies, whose name and legacy are closely tied to the community space she helped create. Residents who can’t attend the September 22 event can also contribute directly through the Parks and Recreation website.
Suicide Awareness Walk is September 12
The third annual Suicide Awareness Walk and Health and Wellness Fair on Saturday, September 12, from 9am to noon at the Blue Hole Regional Park. The event is hosted by the WISD Wellness Center in collaboration with The Greater Mercy Foundation and Wimberley Parks and Recreation, with a focus on raising awareness, strengthening connections and supporting mental health and wellness in the community.
September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, making the event an opportunity for neighbors to show support for those affected by suicide and to help reduce the stigma surrounding conversations about mental health. Organizers emphasize the importance of connection and community support, inviting residents of all ages to participate and learn more about local wellness resources.
VFW Post 6441 and KWVH Salute Our Veteran of the Week
VFW Post 6441 and KWVH salute U.S. Marine Corps Sergeant Justin Montgomery. Sergeant Montgomery served from 2000 to 2004 as an anti-tank assaultman, with duty assignments in Iraq, Australia, and Japan.
After completing his military service, Justin continued a career dedicated to protecting others, working in the security industry. He has called Wimberley home since 2004, making a lasting contribution to our community for more than two decades.
Please join us in thanking Sergeant Justin Montgomery for his service to our nation, his dedication to protecting others, and his continued commitment to the Wimberley community.
