School's Back -- And So Is the Texan Tailgate!
The Wimberley Texans begin their first full week of school today, and several teams are already celebrating big victories. The Texan volleyball team took the Gold Bracket honors (for the third consecutive year) in their own Tex-Fest tournament over the weekend. The tennis team is continuing their hot streak, and the cheer team took first place overall in the game day cheer/chant, and placed 13 All-Americans at the UCA Camp in July.
The year's first Texan Tailgate on KWVH happens this Friday at 4pm. They'll preview the annual Battle for the Backbone slated for August 28, when the Texans host rival Canyon Lake.
It's not too late to become an underwriter on Wimberley Valley Radio. Over Easy with Coach Turns 10!
It's hard to believe, but Over Easy with Coach is celebrating A DECADE of the best live and local music in Texas!
Yes, that's more than 2,300 shows that have featured Texas music legends, up-and-coming artists, and hometown pickers. NOBODY does it like Coach and the crew, every weekday morning from 9 to 11am.
Coach Smith, Tyson, Slaid, John, Roger Allen, Karen Poston, Shawn The Rock, and the Over Easy Crew are taking today off, but they'll be back tomorrow with more great live music as well as segments like “Stump the Young People,” “Tell Me Something Good,” and the “Lonestar of the Day.”
If you see Coach or the gang around town, give them a big ol' congrats.

Help Shape the Future of Hays County
Hays County is asking residents to weigh in on its draft Strategic Plan before the public survey closes on August 26. The plan is intended to guide County priorities, investments and decision-making over the next five years, with public feedback helping officials refine the final version.
About 150 survey responses have been received so far, and the County is encouraging more residents to review the draft and share their priorities.
The plan centers on five areas: community wellbeing; governance and workforce capacity; infrastructure and sustainable growth; partnerships and collaboration; and criminal justice modernization.
After the public engagement period ends, County staff will review survey responses and stakeholder feedback before presenting a revised plan to Commissioners Court for consideration.
Residents can review the draft plan, complete the survey and express interest in participating in a stakeholder listening session here.

VFW Post 6441 and KWVH Salute Our Veteran of the Week
This week VFW Post 6441 and KWVH salute VFW Post 6441 and KWVH salute Navy Petty Officer Second Class Johnny Manning. Johnny served his country as a Boatswain’s Mate, first from 1968 to 1970, and again from 1973 to 1975. His Navy service took him to Vietnam, South Carolina, and Virginia, where he answered the call to serve with dedication and pride.
After leaving the Navy, Johnny began a remarkable 40-year career in law enforcement, continuing his commitment to protecting and serving others. Johnny has called Wimberley home since 2004 and has been a longtime member of VFW Post 6441, where he continues to serve other veterans and the entire community.
