Playoff Drive Ends for Boys Basketball

Our 36-2 Wimberley Texans faced the 39-1 La Marque Cougars on the hardcourt Friday night, and despite their valiant efforts, their season ended in a 74-57 loss. It's been an incredible run -- they were back-to-back regional finalists and went undefeated in their district championship. Truly an achievement! Thanks for the great season, boys.

On the diamonds... pitchers Jayden Gamez and Alex Abrusley threw a combined no-hitter in their 12-0 drubbing of Elgin. The girls softball crew shut out Blanco 10-0 for their seventh victory in their last nine games.

The Texan tennis team took home a BUNCH of metal at last weekend's Connaly Cougar Classic. And the boys golf team finished runners-up a the Comfort tournament last week.

Meanwhile, the speech & debate team took home a number of honors at last weekend's Round Rock UIL meet. And finally... let's hear it for the 70 Texan sophomores and juniors who were inducted into the National Honor Society... so many bright and talented kids, congrats!

Let's go Texans!

Water Wise Seminar Returns March 21

“Water Wise: Aqua Texas Legal Battle & Rainwater Harvesting,” will take place on Saturday, March 21, from 10am to 12pm at the VFW Hall in Wimberley. The program will focus on ongoing litigation involving Aqua Texas, the utility provider serving Woodcreek residents. Disputes include proposed rate increases, groundwater pumping, and a federal lawsuit against the Hays-Trinity Groundwater Conservation District.

The Water Wise series is organized and hosted by Salwa Khan of the Mothering Earth podcast and radio show, heard here on KWVH every Sunday from noon to 12:30pm.

Featured speaker Andrew Weber, president of the Trinity Edwards Springs Protection Association (TESPA), will provide an update on these legal matters and discuss their potential impact on Woodcreek and Woodcreek North residents. He will also share practical strategies for conserving water at home, including reuse and rainwater harvesting methods suited to Hill Country conditions.

Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions and engage directly with the speaker. Water Wise is endorsed by the City of Woodcreek, the City of Wimberley, the Hays County Master Naturalists, and the Wimberley Village Library, reflecting a strong regional commitment to responsible water stewardship.

TESPA will support these efforts by giving away 10 rainwater harvesting barrels and 10 shower control valves to attendees (must be present to win).

Register here to attend, stay informed, and be part of the community effort to safeguard our aquifer and water future.

City of Wimberley Community Cleanup Day

Next Month!

Wimberley residents will have a convenient opportunity to clean out garages, sheds, and storage areas during the upcoming Community Bulky Waste Collection and Shred-It Day on Saturday, April 11.

The event will take place from 8am until noon — or until containers are full — at the Lions Club Parking Lot. Texas Disposal Systems will be on hand to collect large household items like sofas, stoves, refrigerators, water tanks, washing machines, dryers, A/C units, sinks, toilets, furniture, and other bulky waste materials (Freon-containing items must be properly certified as Freon-free).

At the same time, Keep Wimberley Beautiful will host its annual Shred-It Day, offering residents a secure way to dispose of old paper records and sensitive documents.

Please note that hazardous materials and certain items are not accepted, including paints, motor oil, gasoline, mattresses, box springs, brush, and tires. For additional information, residents can contact the Texas Disposal Systems Customer Care Department at (800) 375-8375.
