Thank a Vet Tomorrow -- Or Any Day!

Tomorrow is Veterans Day, when we're reminded that our freedoms are safeguarded by the courage and sacrifice of those who’ve served in uniform. Take a moment to thank a veteran... your words of appreciation mean more than you might imagine.

VFW Post 6441 hosted a BBQ luncheon for veterans over the weekend, and more observances are scheduled for this week. All local and area military veterans are invited to attend the annual Veterans Day Observance ceremony at Wimberley High School's Texan Gym tomorrow, November 11th, at 9am.

The ceremony will feature performances by student groups, including the Texan Band and the combined junior high/high school choir. The patriotic event will also feature the Hays County Sheriff's Color Guard, student speakers, and a recognition ceremony for all veterans in attendance.

On Wednesday, Alexis Pointe is hosting a Veterans Breakfast from 8 to 10am. Stop by for free breakfast, pastries, and coffee.

Our KWVH and VFW Post 6441 Veteran of the Week is Petty Officer Third Class Dorman “Bulldog” Turner. Serving on active duty from 1953 to 1955, and in the Naval Reserve through 1961, Petty Officer Turner worked as a metalsmith and welder, serving with pride along the East Coast and in the Caribbean.

After his military service, he earned his degree from Texas Tech University and went on to a remarkable 52-year career in sales. For the past 22 years, “Bulldog” has called Wimberley home — a steadfast veteran, neighbor, and friend. From all of us — thank you, Petty Officer Turner.

And on behalf of everyone at KWVH, thank you to ALL of our veterans!

Texan Volleyball Continues Playoff Run,

Football Begins Its Quest

Our Lady Texans are hoping to extend their playoff run tomorrow in the regional finals. They face off against the rival Canyon Lake Hawks at 7pm at Littleton Gymnasium in San Antonio. On Friday, they swept Sweeny for their 30th straight win. Incredible.

Meanwhile, football is gearing up for a playoff run after a disappointing loss to Lago Vista last Friday, their last regular-season game. They'll face the 4-6 Carrizo Springs Wildcats this Friday evening at Southwest Legacy Stadium in San Antonio.

The KWVH sports team will broadcast both games, with volleyball pregame at 6:45 and first serve at 7pm.  On Friday, the Texan Tailgate begins at 4pm, followed by pregame at 6:30 and kickoff at 7pm. Listen live or streaming on the KWVH app!

Let's go, TEXANS!
