Red Flag Warnings Continue Today and Beyond!

The National Weather Service has issued another Red Flag Warning for an area stretching along I-35 and west into the Hill Country today from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. That means a combination of high winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures is present, and any fires that develop will rapidly increase in size and intensity, move quickly, and be very difficult to control. Conditions are likely to remain throughout this week.
That means no open fires, no outdoor smoking, and no operating machinery that may cause sparking (including chainsaws). There is presently a burn ban in Hays County.
Similar conditions helped to ignite the 10,000 acre Crabapple Fire north of Fredericksburg over the weekend. It could happen here, so be careful and stay safe!
Ranch Road 12 Construction Begins this Week!

You've probably seen the big traffic control trailer signs, hinting at upcoming construction on Ranch Road 12. The City of Wimberley now has the details.
Beginning tomorrow (Tuesday, March 18) from 8pm to 5am, construction crews will begin roadwork on RR 12 from the north end of the Wimberley city limits (just south of the Cypress Creek bridge) to the Blanco River bridge.
They'll conduct repairs, mill and repave the roadway, and place new pavement markings. And it sounds like the yellow markers through the square are going away, to be replaced by a concrete curb.
Construction will occur on Sunday nights through Thursday nights. You may likely encounter delays, detours, and closures during that timeframe. Anticipated completion is two to three weeks (weather permitting).
This is a TxDOT project, so any feedback -- good, bad, or otherwise -- should be directed to them.
Texan Update: Girls Soccer Rolls, Volleyball Gets More Honors

The Texan girls soccer team is on an absolute TEAR. They closed out the regular season by beating the Fredericksburg Billies 7-2, for an overall record of 19-1-2 on the season, and took the District Champion title. The first round of playoffs begin this Thursday, when they face Lago Vista at 6:30pm in Fredericksburg.
Meanwhile, state champion volleyball coach Misty Fletcher-Remmers was named the state-wide Coach of the Year by the Texas High School Coaches Association. A great honor for a great coach!
And if that's not enough... the 4x100 relay team of Wesley Milam, Ethan Talley, Nolan Waida, and Bryson Anderson broke the school record that's stood for a quarter of a century.
Tune in to KWVH as the Lady Texan soccer team begins its playoff run for play-by-play and the pre-game Texan Tailgate. Baseball and softball coverage will follow.

KWVH and VFW Post 6441 Salute Our Veteran of the Week

This week we salute Corporal Kerry Ridgway. Serving from 1969 to 1971 as a U.S. Marine Corps Military Policeman in Vietnam, he upheld discipline and integrity in challenging times.
Now retired in Wimberley, he remains deeply involved in his community. An avid hunter, he is also a dedicated volunteer. As the Director of the Patriot Pen and Voice of Democracy scholarship program at the VFW, he helps students embrace patriotism and earn money for college. Additionally, he actively serves his church, demonstrating his commitment to faith and service.
Thank you, Corporal Ridgway!
