Helicopters, mini horses, trained dogs, and the fast pitch baseball contest will be on hand - great fun for the whole family! And along the way, you'll learn more about how to prepare your family for almost any unexpected eventuality.

Free lunch, shaved ice, and door prizes are there for the taking, and admission is free, too.

Karst Canyon Preserve Ribbon Cutting

This Friday

Hays County will mark a major milestone in local conservation with a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Karst Canyon Preserve this Friday, March 27 at 10am. The event will take place at Jacob’s Well Natural Area, where attendees can park and either take a short hike or ride with park staff to the ceremony site. The opening celebrates the completion of a multi-year effort to protect this 175-acre landscape and expand public access to one of the Hill Country’s most environmentally significant areas.

Karst Canyon Preserve is named for its distinctive limestone terrain, which plays a critical role in recharging the Trinity Aquifer and supporting iconic local springs like Jacob’s Well. The preserve also includes unique natural features such as caves, creek areas, and wildlife habitat, all of which are now permanently protected through conservation efforts. The project represents a collaborative vision focused on safeguarding water resources and preserving the natural character of the Wimberley Valley for future generations.

Following the ceremony, guests are invited to participate in an optional guided nature hike to explore the preserve’s trails and scenic features. With new public access, designated trails, and ongoing stewardship, Karst Canyon Preserve offers both recreation and education while reinforcing the community’s commitment to land and water conservation in Hays County.

The Girls Are Alright: Texan Update

Looks like the Texan girls soccer team is preparing to make another deep run in the state championship tournament. They blanked Lago Vista 5-0 on Friday evening, and they'll face Pleasanton tonight. It won't be an easy out; the Eagles are 20-4-2, while the Texans come into the contest 20-2-1. The Texan ladies are 5-0 in neutral site games.

A quick update on the Wimberley Texan softball team... they picked up their ninth consecutive win, absolutely clobbering the Bandera Bulldogs on Friday, 16-1. They'll play the Billies in Fredericksburg tomorrow, March 24 at 6:30pm.
