Listen as We Celebrate the Past, Present and Future

Of Wimberley Valley Radio

2025 marks the 10th anniversary of KWVH, which rose out of the historically devastating 2015 Memorial Day flood. Today, we'll begin airing short recollections from many of our station's pioneers. It's a great way to learn more about the challenges that these folks overcame to make our station a vital part of the Wimberley Valley. Be sure to tune in throughout the day to hear their stories.

Also, the Empowered Community, airing Friday morning from 7-9am, is focusing on key takeaways from the Memorial Day flood, the early days of KWVH, and how Wimberley Valley Radio has grown into the prime source for information and entertainment for our community.

  • Last week, the show featured Ken Strange and Kathy Montgomery of Wimberley EMS and Carroll Czichos and Chris Robbins from the Wimberley Fire Department. They recalled their experiences during the floods and some of their most important learnings. If you missed their compelling stories, visit our archive and scroll down to the Empowered Community tile.

  • This Friday, the show will welcome Susan Raybuck, Salwa Khan, and some of the station's earliest show hosts and content providers to talk about the challenges and opportunities of "filling air" in the early days.

  • On May 23, former Wimberley Mayors Bob Flocke, Steve Thurber, and Mac McCullough will recall the Wimberley of 2015, how it's changed, and how KWVH has shaped - and been shaped - by the community.

  • On the Friday before the Memorial Day Weekend, we'll talk to Mike Crusham and Tim Kiesling, the former and current General Managers of the station. They'll discuss how the station has grown over the years.

Keep that dial on 94.3 FM to hear these unique stories of resilience in our community all month long - and beyond.

Byron Eckols State Farm & KWVH Salute Kathy Montgomery, Our Good Neighbor Volunteer Of the Month

In keeping with our flood remembrances, we're recognizing some people and organizations that were instrumental in keeping our community safe, then and now.

Kathy Montgomery, our Wimberley EMS Operations Director, is the Good Neighbor Volunteer of the Month. Kathy joined Wimberley EMS as a volunteer firefighter in 1995. When she’s not working, she spends time at her grandkids' sporting events, biking, and travelling.

Our non profit of the month is Wimberley Fire and Rescue. They provide emergency services and critical support during local emergencies and started out as a 100% volunteer fire department.

Our KWVH Volunteer of the Month is Salwa Khan. She hosts “Mothering Earth” on

Sundays at noon and is a KWVH board member.

The Monday Morning Wake Up Club welcomed all three honorees on today's show. Visit the archives to listen.

Let's Salute Our Veteran of the Week

KWVH and VFW Post 6441 salute Chief Petty Officer Ginnie Street for her 20 years of dedicated service in the United States Navy. From 1976 to 1996, CPO Street served as an Aviation Storekeeper, supporting missions across the continental U.S., Hawaii, Iceland, and across the globe with unwavering commitment and precision. Her contributions ensured operational readiness and excellence in naval aviation logistics.

Now retired, she continues to serve her community with the same heart and discipline, volunteering extensively at her church.
