Keeping the Valley Connected

What an EPIC 250th Birthday Party!!
From the biggest-ever Independence Day Parade to the three-night sellout of the VFW Rodeo, to another successful Market Day --- the Wimberley Valley was HAPPENING this weekend!
We hope everyone got a chance to enjoy some of the great vibes and small-town spirit as we celebrated our nation's 250th birthday. Whether you like it or not, our little town garnered some attention from the Independent, a UK-based news outlet.
We have a lot to be proud of, Wimberley. Thanks to the VFW, Lions Club, the Chamber of Commerce, the cities of Wimberley and Woodcreek, and everyone else who made this holiday such a rousing success.

Showcase Your Business on KWVH This Fall!
As we turn the page on the 4th of July, we're reminded that school starts back up on August 14 -- that's only a little over a month away! (Sorry kids.)
Football kicks off a couple weeks after that, and the KWVH sports crew will once again air their award-winning broacasts of all Texan athletics as well as the Texan Tailgate show.
This is some of KWVH's most popular programming, and what better way is there to let the Wimberley Valley know about your local business? Consider becoming an underwriter on Wimberley Valley Radio! We're offering some very cost-effective packages that highlight your business, while also letting listeners know that you value our school and the hometown radio station that provides local sports, news, and entertainment to the Valley.
Call Tanya or Tim at 512-722-3266 to learn more and lock in your season sponsorships. Go Texans!

Lots Happening at the Library.
If you have kids, you probably already know that the Wimberley Village Library has exceptional programming for the young ones. Just in the last month, they held their own America 250 birthday party, Mermaid Story Time, an interactive STEM Class, and a Summer Reading Kick-Off event, complete with a live snake presentation.
But did you know our hometown library has some great events for families and adults this summer? Right now, you can take part in a scavenger hunt at 7A Ranch and Pioneer Town! Just pick up a form at the library, then explore Pioneer Town while answering the questions. If you complete the hunt, you're eligible to receive a free Pioneer Express train ticket and a scoop of ice cream from the ice cream parlor. Fun for the whole family!
And on July 30th, the library is hosting an adults-only evening of board games, crafts, a scavenger hunt, and virtual reality glasses. It's even BYOB, with light snacks served. Register at the link.

Water Wise Series Resuming for the Fall.
The highly-acclaimed Water Wise series is starting back up in August, with a new series of events brought to you by Salwa Khan of the Mothering Earth podcast/radio program. Water Wise is a way to learn about what’s happening with water, and ways in which you can conserve and protect our region’s water.
The first installment is on August 8th from 10:30am to 2pm at the library. The seminar is entitled, "Convert Turf Grass Yards to a Native Plant Haven." Learn how to turn your yard into native plantings, with guidance on soil health, simple rain barrel setup, and native plants that thrive in the Hill Country. Speakers from RainBees, Hays County Master Naturalists, Hays County Master Gardeners, and the Native Plant Society of Texas will help attendees begin a multi-year garden plan, with expert advice and free plants available.
Registration is required, so click here to reserve your spot. Other seminars are scheduled for September 12 and 26.

VFW Post 6441 and KWVH salute U.S. Army Specialist Hayden Stone
This week we salute Specialist Hayden Stone. As a communications specialist, Hayden served with the 10th Mountain Division at Fort Drum, New York, the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
After his military service, he spent 15 years in private security, continuing his commitment to protecting others. Today, Hayden is making a difference in a new way as a valued member of the staff at the Katherine Anne Porter School here in Wimberley.
We proudly thank Specialist Hayden Stone for his dedicated service to our nation and for his continued service to our community.
