It's Labor Day, Wimberley!
Happy Labor Day, Wimberley! Today, we pause to honor the hard work, dedication, and determination of the American worker — the backbone of our country. Labor Day is a time to reflect on the dignity of work and the way it unites communities.
Here in Wimberley, we embody that spirit through the perseverance of our small businesses, the creativity of our artists, and the generosity of our neighbors who lift one another up. May this day be filled with rest, gratitude, and celebration of the labor that makes our town — and our nation — thrive.

Our Wimberley Texans are wasting no time making a mark this fall. On Friday, Texan football came roaring back from a 35-7 deficit late in the third quarter to score 29 unanswered points, beating Canyon Lake 36-35. They face the Fredericksburg Billies in another away game this Friday.
Meanwhile, the lady Texan volleyball squad is in prime form, winning the Seguin Matador Invitational tournament. That's 11 consecutive wins for the girls. They'll try to extend that streak on Tuesday, when they travel to Blanco.

ICYMI... Friday's Texan Tailgate at the Devil's Backbone Tavern was a great success. Thanks to everyone who stopped by. This year, Hill Country Collision will host the Texan Tailgate from 4-6pm every home game. They're located right next to the stadium, so stop by for some pre-game action beginning September 12.
Season sponsorships game broadcasts, the Texan Tailgate, and the Wes Lambert Coaches Show are still available. Tomorrow Night:
Lions Club Hosts Public Forum
On Flood Preparedness

The Wimberley Lions are hosting a community forum on "Flash Flooding in the Wimberley Valley" tonight at 6pm at the Community Center.
Panelists include Mike Jones, Hays County Director of Emergency Services; Rebecca Minnick, Wimberley Mayor Pro Tem; Jeff Rasco, Woodcreek Mayor; Ken Strange, EMS Director; and Chris Robbins, Interim Fire Chief.
The panel will discuss the actions taken since the 2015 flood and what additional steps are needed. Lions will provide guests a handout summarizing the historic 2015 flood that forever changed the town. Audience members will have the opportunity to submit written questions and share their perspectives before the event.
The event is free and open to the public.
Hays County Schedules Public Input Meetings

Hays County officials are hosting two separate -- but very important -- meetings in Wimberley this month.
Tomorrow, September 2, from 2 to 3:30pm, officials will host a presentation on a rewrite of the county's development regulations. The public is invited to share its thoughts on updating its development plans regarding water availability, water quality, floodplain management, environmental protection, and transportation infrastructure.
On Wednesday, September 18, from 5 to 7pm, Precinct 3 County Commissioner Morgan Hammer will host a meeting to share updates on the county's road improvement program, including funding strategies and an overview of proposed projects.
A bond package for these projects was approved by voters last November, but in June, a judge blocked the funding. While the case is being appealed, the Commissioner's Court has voted to proceed with funding, planning, and design for most of the projects.
Both meetings are held at the Community Center.
Wimberley Institute of Cultures
To Host Texas Ranger Lecture

Mark your calendar for the Wimberley Institute of Cultures (WIC) 2025 Fall Membership Meeting & Dinner on Monday, September 15, 2025, at the Wimberley Community Center.
This year’s event features award‑winning author Bob Alexander — an authority on the Texas Rangers and a seasoned law enforcement figure with four decades of experience — who will share captivating frontier stories of grit and adventure. Book your seats online by September 5.
Attendees can savor a hearty, frontier‑style meal provided by JP’s BarBQue, including chicken, beans, and loaded mashed potatoes. Admission and the meal are $25 per person, and the event is open to the public.
