Wednesday is WAGSDAY with WAG Rescue, Brookshire Brothers, and KWVH!
Join Tanya Tyler and the WAG team this Wednesday, July 15 from 11am - 1pm in the Brookshire Brothers parking lot for some four-legged fun. Burger and hot dog lunch specials will be available on site, as well as a few furry friends looking to for their forever home.
Since 2009, the Wimberley Adoption Group & Rescue has been partnering with Central Texas shelters to take in any dog or puppy, regardless of their age or condition. They are given vet care, socialization, and training that they need to get adopted. They've helped facilitate over 2400 dog adoptions.
Come on out -- you never know, you may find your next canine companion!
Wimberley Opry Live at 7A Ranch!
Join KWVH and 7A Ranch this Sunday for Live at the Wimberley Opry at the Pioneer Town Opera House, from 1:30pm to 3pm. The afternoon features three great local acts, including Jim Hartwell, Ginger Brown, and the Hill Country Honeys.
Doors open at 1pm. Tickets are $20 online or at the door. If you can't make the event, listen in on KWVH as we broadcast the event live.
If you haven't yet made it to a show at the Opera House, then this is your chance -- it's one of Wimberley's most unique (and funky) venues!
Byron Eckols State Farm and KWVH Salute Our Good Neighbor of the Month
This week we honor Rick Skiles. Rick is retired and leads the Carpenters Helpers, a non-profit service organization that serves widows and widowers who need access to their homes and can not afford to have ramps built. Rick and the organization provide the materials and always the labor for free.
Our community non profit highlight is the Patsy Glenn Refuge, a 1.8-acre haven for local and migrating birds, other wildlife, insects, and native plants of the Wimberley area. The refuge is open daily, 8am to sunset.
Our KWVH Volunteer of the month is Todd Crusham! Todd has hosted radio shows on KWVH from almost the beginning! He hosted “Toddy and the Pooch,” a show with his dog, and now hosts the popular “Teenage Men Radio” on Thursday nights at 7pm with Benjamin Hotchkiss. He’s also the man who made our logo and many of the other show graphics you see on KWVH.org.

Water Wise Series Resuming for the Fall.
The highly-acclaimed Water Wise series is starting back up in August, with a new series of events brought to you by Salwa Khan of the Mothering Earth podcast/radio program. Water Wise is a way to learn about what’s happening with water, and ways in which you can conserve and protect our region’s water.
The first installment is on August 8th from 10:30am to 2pm at the library. The seminar is entitled, "Convert Turf Grass Yards to a Native Plant Haven." Learn how to turn your yard into native plantings, with guidance on soil health, simple rain barrel setup, and native plants that thrive in the Hill Country. Speakers from RainBees, Hays County Master Naturalists, Hays County Master Gardeners, and the Native Plant Society of Texas will help attendees begin a multi-year garden plan, with expert advice and free plants available.

VFW Post 6441 and KWVH salute Chief Master Sergeant Vic Willoughby
This week we salute Chef Master Sergeant Vic Willoughby. For 28 years — from 1963 to 1991 — Vic served in the United States Air Force. As a B-52 Crew Chief, he
kept America's bombers flight-ready at bases across the country, and overseas in Thailand. Along the way, Vic became an educator — rising to Chief Master Sergeant, a rank held by just the top one percent of enlisted airmen. He capped his career as Commandant of the Tactical Air Command Non-Commissioned Officer Academy at the former Bergstrom Air Force Base.
But Vic wasn't done teaching. For 17 more years, he served as a Junior ROTC instructor, instilling Leadership, Character, Service, and Citizenship in hundreds of local students. Today, you'll still find Vic active with VFW Post 6441 — and yes, at Friday Bingo.
