Sells Winning Powerball Ticket!

Did you -- or anyone you know -- buy a Powerball ticket at Big's 103 gas station in Fredericksburg between last Wednesday and Saturday nights? If so, that ticket could be worth more than $410 million. The $1.8 billion jackpot was shared with another lucky winner in Missouri.
With all the terrible flooding in the Hill Country this summer, it's a good bit of news and hopefully the winner will put the windfall to good use. The golden ticket holder has within 180 days to make an in-person appointment and collect their winnings.
And just in case the winner is reading this... here's a link to support KWVH. ;)
Another Week, More Texan Success

How 'bout them TEXANS?!? Another great week is in the books for our young competitors in the quest to defend the Lone Star Cup.
On Friday, Texan football came home with a victory over the Fredericksburg Billies, 28-21. They'll play their first home game this Friday at 7:30 vs. LBJ Austin. It'll also be the first Texan Tailgate hosted at Hill Country Collision, located right next to the stadium, from 4-6pm. We'll be selling JP's BBQ sandwiches and drinks to benefit KWVH, so come on out and say hello!
The volleyball team swept their matches last week against Blanco and Bowie, bringing their overall record to 27-5 on the season. They'll host the Poth Pirates tomorrow evening. Wimberley also hosted the Sub-Varsity Tex-Fest last week, with our JV winning the match and our freshmen taking second place.
For the girls cross country team, it was another weekend, another team title! They took home the hardware from the Canyoun Cougar Invitational. That's three meets, three team titles... not too shabby!
Meanwhile, the speech and debate team traveled to La Vernia for their first tournament. The young team made a great showing with at least 10 semi finalist placements.
GO TEXANS!!

Every Friday at 6pm, tune in for the Texan Hour, hosted by Wimberley High School students spinning their favorite songs. Any high school student can join the fun... just email us.
Then, stay up late on Fridays and check out the GRUV, filled with tail-shakin' tunes. Closing out the night is an encore of RedRoc Radio, hosted by Ernest Corder.

Patriots of the Year

On September 11, the Wimberley VFW will once again honor two Patriots of the Year. The ceremony will take place at 9am at the Veterans Memorial Plaza on top of the Emily Ann Theatre and Gardens.
This year, we honor Travis L. Maher and Michael Thibodeaux. Travis was a Captain and firefighter with the Wimberley Fire Department who was on duty during the flood of 2015. He also was on hand following the attack on the World Trade Center in New York City and was a member of Texas Task Force One. He died in 2022 from cancer possibly related to his work following the 9/11 attack.
Michael is a retired US Army Colonel who served our nation for 30 years, including a tour in Vietnam. He currently serves our community with the Wimberley Institute of Cultures.
Patriot Day honors the heroes and the fallen from September 11, 2001. The ceremony is open to the public and it will provide an opportunity to express our gratitude for the service of our military and first responders.
