KWVH Studio-Transmitter Link Gets Upgraded

KWVH Studio-Transmitter Link Gets Installed TODAY!

Our two-year project to improve the range and quality of Wimberley Valley Radio's signal enters its final chapter today!

After a great deal of work, we're establishing our own private studio-to-transmitter link and tuning things to make KWVH sound better and reach further than ever before. The new setup allows us to deliver a reliable signal no matter what happens with the power grid, the internet, or pretty much anything else. That means that no matter the calamity, you can hear what's going on in the Wimberley Valley 24/7.

It couldn't have happened without our listeners, supporters and board of directors. And here's a special shout-out to the expertise of GM Tim Kiesling, Production and Operations Director Brach Thomas, and board members Matt Mendoza, Jim Donaldson, and John McGimsey. Thank you, everyone!

Here's to the Wimberley Good Neighbor Volunteer of the Month!

Hats off to the Byron Eckols State Farm Good Neighbor recipients for June 2024! Good Neighbor of the Month Emil Dzuik and his wife Ann have called Wimberley home for 28 years. Emil has volunteered for the Wimberley Senior Activity Center, Emily Ann Theater, and the Bright Beginnings Preschool Board. Since 2018, he has been a vital member of the Barnabas Connection, serving as Board chair the last three years.

The KWVH Volunteer of the month is Gaylan Latimer, who hosts the FunkSway Hour each Tuesday at 3PM. Gaylan is an accomplished guitarist, too — he started playing when he was seven years old and began touring with Dick Clark’s Caravan of Stars at 15! He’s recorded or toured with the Zombies, BJ Thomas, Herman’s Hermits, Tina Turner, Johnny Winter, Percy Sledge, Clint Black, Freddy Fender, Merle Haggard, and even Motley Crue.

The Wimberley Non-Profit of the Month is the Wimberley Village Library. Friends of the library have contributed tens of thousands of dollars to the renovation and expansion of our library. Friends of the Village library volunteer throughout the community including Wimberley Market Day and host their annual book sale.

To nominate a volunteer or local nonprofit, email us. Thanks to Byron Eckols State Farm — here for you to insure the things that matter most.

KWVH Salutes our Veteran of the Week

Corporal Nathan Hall is the Wimberley Valley's Veteran of the Week. Corporal Hall served in the Marine Corps for 4 years.  He was assigned to Marine Corps Air Station New River in Jacksonville, North Carolina. He has been decorated with the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal.

He is currently self-employed here in Wimberley and he is a member of VFW Post 6441. He is married to Heather Hall and they have four children.  Thank you Nathan for your service to this nation and our community.

Texan Baseball Team Honors

Your Wimberley Texan baseball team is racking up some honors. Eight young men have received recognition as part of the 27-4A All-District Team.

We're also hearing that Wimberley High School will finish in the top ten of the UIL Lone Star Cup Standings for the second time in three years! There are 216 schools in District 4A, so that's one heck of an accomplishment.
