Wimberley Institute of Cultures Debuts Mural

The Wimberley Valley has another vibrant mural! The Wimberley Institute of Cultures unveiled the work, painted by Theresa Vincent, which depicts key scenes from the Valley's history. It's painted on a metal shed and it portrays historic buildings, natural scenes, and the iconic Winter's Mill (a great selfie location, if you're into that).

WimberleyArts.org helped select the artist and facilitate the project, and the City's Hotel Occupancy Tax (HOT) provided a grant to make it all happen.

Make sure you stop by and take a look, especially right now when the bluebonnets are at their peak. Just park in the Community Center lot and enjoy Wimberley's latest public art installment.

James McMurtry and BettySoo Visit the Fishbowl

Sure hope everyone was able to tune in to Over Easy with Coach last Friday, when master singer/songwriter James McMurtry stopped by the Fishbowl. He was joined by BettySoo, a talented Americana artist in her own right.

McMurtry is known for his masterful storytelling and poignant lyrics. His career began in 1989 with "Too Long in the Wasteland" and his latest work is "The Horses and the Hounds." Those albums -- and everything in between -- are masterpieces that explore themes of rural America, social issues, and human struggles with a raw and authentic style. And he's not afraid to salt his lyrics with a good measure of dry, acerbic wit.

He's touring with Betty Soo, and Coach learned that they're collaborating on a couple of projects coming up. The duo has a gig on May 6 at the Wimberley Playhouse, and tickets go on sale April 8.
